Ayurvedic treatments encompass a wide range of therapies and modalities. Here are some of the commonly practiced types of Ayurvedic treatments:

JALAUKAAVACHARANA

Jalaukaavacharana is one of the specialized ayurvedic treatments done to eliminate impure blood by using leeches. The word JALAUKA is a Sanskrit word which denotes the leech. Naturally leeches are used to suck only impure blood, by this toxins from blood can be eliminated. It is usually done in diseases which are caused due to vitiation of blood.

Panchakarma treatment

It involves a series of therapeutic procedures that aim to eliminate toxins from the body and restore the balance in the state of doshas. It is method of cleansing the body of all the unwanted waste after lubricating. Panchakarma treatment is unique in the sense that it includes preventive, curative, and protective actions from various diseases. Panchakarma are 5 in number. They are 1. Vamanam, 2. Virechanam, 3. Nasyam, 4. Anuvasanambasthi, 5. Asthapanambasthi.

Shirodhara Treatment

It is deeply relaxing therapy that involves pouring a continuous stream of warm herbal oil or medicated liquid onto the forehead region. It helps to reduce the mental stress and induces the sleep.

Nasyam

It is method of instillation of medicated oil or ghee or liquid or powder into the nostrils. It helps to eliminate the doshas from the head. It is helpful to cure various E.N.T and Ophthalmology disorders.

Pranayama Treatment

Pranayama is practise of breathing exercise to increase the energy flow in our body and mind. It is the main component of Yoga. In Sanskrit prana means life energy and ayama means control, so the word Pranayama means controlling the energy. Regular practise of pranayama helps to awaken the Kundalini shakthi (unique power generation). Specific asanas (Postures) and Pranayama techniques are recommended based on an individual’s constitutions and health. It helps to cure various Breathing and Psychiatric disorders.

Akshi Tarpanam

Holding medicated ghee over the eyes and surrounding areas for certain period of time. Akshi means eyes, Tarpanam means nutrition. This process is done with different herbal medication in certain eye diseases like refractive errors, xeropthalmia and etc ...and this is also a treatment to add beauty to eyes
